The Airway-Restorative
Continuum.
From diagnosis to reconstruction - taking on the cases others refer out. An advanced, case-driven course on how to diagnose the airway patient, sequence treatment across a lifetime of growth, and rebuild function and esthetics with confidence.
Reserve My SeatBeyond the
Appliance.
This is an advanced course for clinicians who already understand that airway matters - and are ready to build the clinical judgment to diagnose, sequence, and restore these cases in their own practice.
Built on everything Dr. Nguyen has learned in airway-focused dentistry, the two days move deliberately from reading the patient to rebuilding the patient: growth and development, diagnosis, treatment sequencing, and finally restorative reconstruction on a stable foundation.
“The right appliance at the wrong time is still the wrong treatment. Successful airway care begins with understanding growth, function, and biology - not simply choosing an expander.”
Four Pillars,
One Continuum.
Every case decision across the two days is measured against the same four outcomes.

This course is for you if…
- You’ve taken introductory airway courses and want to go deeper
- You want to confidently take on cases you currently refer out
- You perform restorative dentistry and keep seeing it fail without an airway lens
- You want a repeatable framework for diagnosis and treatment sequencing
- You’re considering ongoing mentorship to implement expansion and reconstruction
What makes it different
- Airway-first philosophy - restorative dentistry as the outcome, not the starting point
- Four dedicated case-review sessions built into the two days
- Interactive, small-group discussion - not lecture all day
- A decision algorithm you can use Monday morning
- A clear pathway into guided implementation and mentorship
Guest
Speakers.
Six specialists bring their expertise to the November immersion - expanding the conversation from ENT and periodontics to orthognathic surgery, treatment planning, myofunctional therapy, and case acceptance.
Dr. Keren Sperling
Board-certified periodontist and implant surgeon practicing at Nova Perio in Vienna, Virginia. Dr. Sperling earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine and Clinical Master’s in Perio-Pathology from Tel Aviv University with highest honors. She completed specialty training at NYU and is a former faculty member in Periodontics at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her practice focuses on periodontal regeneration, soft-tissue grafting, dental implants, and bone reconstruction with an emphasis on interdisciplinary planning alongside restorative dentists and orthodontists.
Dr. Euna Koo
Practitioners will gain insight into the patient experience - from treatment planning and surgical preparation to recovery and life after surgery - so they can better educate, prepare, and support patients considering this pathway. Dr. Koo stepped away from restorative dentistry in 2022 to bridge the gap between the medical and dental worlds, empowering patients to advocate for themselves. Her personal sleep and double jaw surgery journey led her to found Breathe Cincinnati, dedicated to recognizing the mouth’s role in supporting breath, sleep, and wellness.
Dr. Jetta Holloway-Jankowski
Learn how to confidently treatment plan complex cases by starting with the end in mind. Dr. Holloway-Jankowski will walk through how to interpret records, evaluate the patient from every dimension, establish the desired final result, and work backward to determine the appropriate sequence of treatment - including appliance selection and design, interdisciplinary sequencing, and post-treatment restorative needs. Through real cases, she will also examine what happens when the original plan does not match the patient’s expectations.
Laura Colmenares
Certified Orofacial Myologist and founder of LC Orofacial Myology in Ashburn, Virginia. Laura earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Maryland and brings more than a decade of dental hygiene experience to her work in myofunctional therapy. She works with children and adults to address oral rest posture, oral habits, and orofacial muscle function, with an emphasis on nasal breathing. Her clinical focus includes collaboration around orthodontic expansion, pre- and post-frenectomy care, and rehabilitation following jaw surgery. She is also a Certified Buteyko Breathing Instructor and a Breathe Institute Ambassador.
Dr. Kaelan Black
How to build meaningful referral relationships, ask the right clinical questions, and collaborate with ENT to provide more comprehensive airway care. Dr. Black is a Pediatric Otolaryngologist in Northern Virginia. She attended Georgetown University School of Medicine, completed her residency in Otolaryngology at the University of South Florida, and returned to Washington, DC for a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children’s National Medical Center. She has a special interest in pediatric sleep medicine and tongue tie, and believes that sleep apnea goes beyond the tonsils and adenoids, requiring an integrated approach.
Dr. Kristin Soileau
Clinical knowledge is only part of the equation. Your ability to communicate treatment recommendations with clarity, confidence, and purpose can make the difference between a patient understanding their needs and committing to treatment. Dr. Soileau has been a practicing dentist for almost 20 years. Her passion is wholistically and proactively treating every child so they can reach their full potential. She is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and Fellow of the American Academy of Clear Aligners, and served six years as an Army dentist including a deployment to Iraq.
Six Advanced
Competencies.
The Clinical Eye
Read history, facial form, arch, tongue, TMD, and CBCT into a repeatable diagnostic workflow - from age 3 through adulthood.
Developmental Staging
Know when to monitor versus intervene across all four developmental phases, and what each stage can realistically influence.
The Airway-Occlusion Link
Connect airway to TMD, bruxism, and worn dentition - and understand why restorative work fails when the airway is missed.
Treatment Sequencing
Apply a decision algorithm - “What does this patient need?” - to sequence airway, orthopedic, orthodontic, and restorative care.
The Restorative Rebuild
Reconstruct occlusion, vertical dimension, and esthetics on a stable airway foundation for lasting, healthy results.
Case Confidence
Work real cases in small groups so you leave ready to select, plan, and start your own - with a mentor a call away.
A Schedule Built
to Keep You Engaged.
Both days run 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a one-hour lunch and two refreshment breaks. Case-review sessions are woven throughout to break up the day and drive discussion.
Day One — Hidden Restorative Potential
Led by Dr. Tracey Nguyen · 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Understanding the distinction and why it changes everything about the way you diagnose and treat.
A practical screening workflow every team member can use, from the front desk to the operatory.
Reading the face before the teeth - and why it changes the restorative plan.
When the maxilla and mandible can - and can’t - support expansion, and what each scenario means for treatment sequencing.
Restorative dentistry as the outcome - how the face, not the teeth, should drive the plan.
Interactive case review and discussion on when to bring in ENT, myofunctional therapy, periodontics, and orthognathic surgery.
Day Two — Interdisciplinary Care: From Diagnosis to Commitment
Six specialists · 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Dr. Tracey Nguyen sets the stage for a day of interdisciplinary collaboration and case-driven learning.
How to build meaningful referral relationships, ask the right clinical questions, and collaborate with ENT to provide more comprehensive airway care.
Practical collaboration between dentists and myofunctional therapists for better patient outcomes.
Building the right phenotype for tooth movement and implant success through periodontal regeneration and soft-tissue grafting.
Understanding when surgical intervention is the right next step, and how to prepare and support patients through the process.
How to interpret records, evaluate the patient from every dimension, establish the desired final result, and work backward to determine the appropriate sequence of treatment.
Practical strategies to educate patients, communicate the value of recommended care, build trust, and guide patients from consultation to confident treatment decisions.
A comprehensive case tying the day’s interdisciplinary perspectives together into one treatment journey.
Approximately 11 CE hours across the two days. Schedule may be adjusted slightly to serve discussion.
